God’s salvation for the world was accomplished by Jesus Christ. The impact of Jesus’ redemption begins in individual human hearts as they turn from sin and toward him. Simply put, a person becomes a Christian by professing their faith in Jesus Christ.

What does this mean?

It means truly believing in your heart that Jesus Christ is God’s son who reconciles us with God through his life, death and resurrection. This is a free gift to anyone who will receive it! God promises to remove the record of our sins and we are adopted into God’s family.

How did Jesus accomplish this?

Jesus willingly laid down his life and received in our place the due penalty of our sin. Through his resurrection he was victorious over death and shares his power with us so that we can be remade in life and eternal life.

How is Baptism Connected to Salvation?

Water baptism is the outward and visible sign of being buried with Jesus in his baptism and rising from the waters clothed in his new life. It represents the cleansing of our heart when we trust in Jesus. Baptism is the sacrament of initiation into the church, symbolizing our sins being washed away and our new identity in Jesus Christ. It is available to all persons. We believe it may be received as a child (who later confesses their faith for themselves - Acts 2:38-39) or as adult believers (Romans 6:4).
