Saturday, July 11th, 9:00 AM

West Rock Gopher Burrow, Mountain Top, and Mine Shaft

This loop uses Gopher Burrow and Mine Shaft to connect to Mountain Top Trail, forming a route that spends much of its time along the higher terrain of West Rock Mountain. The trail combines packed dirt singletrack, rocky sections, exposed roots, and rolling elevation changes through dense hardwood forest. Mountain Top Trail serves as the centerpiece of the route, following elevated sidehill and ridgeline terrain with longer flowing stretches between tighter technical features. Gopher Burrow works as a narrower connector through lower wooded sections, while Mine Shaft adds rougher tread and sharper transitions on the return.  This 2.6 mile loop sees an elevation change of 209 ft, and should take us about 1.5 hours to complete.  If you’d like to caravan/carpool to the trailhead together, meet us in the Stadium Trace ALDI parking lot by 8:15 AM.  Google Maps mark for the Dee Hendrix trailhead: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Uceb1XfrsphHCm5t7
